The Jesse Stuart Foundation is now accepting session proposals for the 2027 Jesse Stuart Writers Workshop, scheduled for April 16–17, 2027 at the Delta Hotel, 1441 Winchester Avenue, Ashland, KY.
Held annually in honor of renowned Appalachian author Jesse Stuart, the workshop brings together writers, artists, educators, and creatives from across the region for a weekend of inspiration, instruction, and literary fellowship. The event welcomes both emerging and established voices and seeks presenters who are passionate about sharing their experiences, skills, and creative insight with others.
Organizers are currently seeking proposals for 50-minute presentations, panels, workshops, or hybrid sessions. Topics may focus on specific genres such as poetry, fiction, nonfiction, memoir, publishing, storytelling, Appalachian culture, or other creative disciplines relevant to writers and artists.
Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit:
- A brief biography and information about their writing or creative background
- Relevant teaching, workshop, or presentation experience
- A short overview of the proposed session, including topic, format, materials, and any technology needs
All proposals must be submitted by August 28, 2026. Submissions received after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants will be notified of decisions by email, with selected sessions announced publicly in September 2026.
Because the workshop is a two-day event, presenters are asked to apply only if they are available to attend both April 16 and April 17, 2027.
